The one constant in this life is change. It’s the source of much of our fear, anxiety, and frustration. Although mankind has, over the centuries, considered the earth, the sun and the stars to be permanent fixtures in our experience, even they are subject to change. But today, as we continue in our “Portraits” series, exploring the attributes of God, we will see that God, unlike the material world around us, is eternal and unchanging.

In a world where change can catch us by surprise, isn’t it good to know nothing surprises God? His unchanging nature provides me comfort coupled with the fact that He is both good and in complete control. So change does not have to upset us if we draw near to Him and follow Him, because He sees the end from the beginning and will direct the steps of all who trust in Him and acknowledge Him and His priorities.
