It had been twenty five years since God first appeared to Abram in Haran and told him to move to Canaan where He would make him into a great nation. During that time, God appeared to him no less than six other times yet Abraham consistently demonstrated an inability to consistently faithfully follow God. In our passage today, God provides the long awaited son of promise, but also tests Abraham in a shocking manner. We will see both Abraham and Sarah demonstrate how a follower of God can arrive at a full-orbed action-inducing faith even when it may cost.
