GraceTalk, March 2019

Sunday, March 10, 2019 by Pat Dirrim, Zach Watson, Marty Kronz and Kevin Hosner Leave a Comment

We value asking questions to better understand how to live life in a God-centered, Christ-exalting way. We believe that church should be the best place in which people can get solid answers to life’s questions.

1. Are there places in the Bible that don’t apply directly to us and how should we view these places? For example, concepts like Israel going into the Promise Land or specific scriptures like: “If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land” (2 Chron. 7:14). If both of these examples don’t specifically apply to us, how should we approach these as well as other examples?

2. In Connections I heard a person mention the “expulsive power” of the Gospel and was not able to find out what that meant. Could you explain?

3. In 1 Timothy 2:11-12, it talks about women learning quietly and not exercising authority over men. In today’s world, Hollywood would have you believe the exact opposite. I’m struggling to raise a teenage daughter in light of all that and teach her (and follow myself ) a Biblical view of womanhood. How does this verse apply to gender equality and feminism? Would a woman running for president be Biblical?

4. I often hear the phrase, “invite your lost friends to church.” Is the church a place for the lost, or for believers only?
