It is now Tuesday of Passion Week. After having called the Temple a den of thieves on Monday, the Jewish leaders were quite upset and were looking to trap Jesus. There is a quite a bit of dialogue between Jesus and the leaders on this day as they seek to, finally, somehow get rid of Him. They fail. On His way home from the Temple, Jesus offers His second to last extended teaching to His disciples. It is now only three days until the cross.
