Last week, in part 1, we began to explore what it means to “live by faith” ( see 10:38). While we may think faith is basic to a relationship with Christ, the Jewish believers of the day had grown accustom to a performance-based relationship with God through the sacrificial system and striving to keep the Law. Therefore, it is critical that the followers of Jesus clearly understand that faith in God is essential to a relationship with God and that this is how it has always been, even during the Old Covenant.
