There is much to teach children as they grown up and mature into adulthood.
One important part of raising our children up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord is to share with them what we are learning and going through and how we are relying on the Lord and seeking to live in ways that honor Him.
What do your kids hear from you about your faith?
What a gift it was for the disciples to experience life with Jesus daily and see and hear Him talk about how to live life for the Father even though they did not always understand. What a gift to have that personal example as reference for their life and ministry.
When we do this for our children they too are able to see a real life example of someone living for the Lord. Along with that they are able to hear about how the Christian faith is to be lived out in the day to day grind of things outside the walls of Grace Fellowship.
Just like the disciples didn’t always understand everything Jesus told them and showed them, so too our children will experience some of the same foggy understanding of what they have heard from us but the cumulative affect of you sharing your life with them will reap great benefits. By God’s grace they will be able to both learn in the moments and then be able to look back when they are in adulthood on a lifetime of learning from you.
How often I have heard adults speak both positively and negatively about the things their parents shared with them about how to live this life. Do your kids know your faith? Do you show them and tell them about living the Christian faith? Do they hear from you and see that you love Jesus and live for Him?
Let us strive to impart a Godly Legacy to our children.
