Why Fighter Verse?

Thursday, January 22, 2015 by Summer Pinch Leave a Comment

So it’s the New Year. Some of us are eating veggies or zooming merrily along through a new yearly Bible-reading plan, some of us bought a scale and some of us threw one away. Wherever you are or whatever your hopes are for this new year, we have a resolution that we highly recommend to you: memorizing God’s Word.

Why Memorize Scripture?

Why the Fighter Verse Program?

These sets of verses were originally an effort of a Sunday school teacher to equip her young students with the Word. She challenged them to memorize over 100 verses and she called them their “fighter verses.” Over the past several decades, the idea took root and grew at Bethlehem Baptist Church.

There are three categories that each of the Fighter Verses are designed to fit in to and therefore help the church remember:

  1. Battling sin
  2. The character and worth of God
  3. The work of Christ in the Gospel

Get Started!

From songs, to artwork, bookmarks and charts, Fighter Verses has all kinds of resources to help you commit to learning Scripture. Come to the Guest Services window this week to grab a bookmark with a list of verses and tips to help get you started.
