Last week we considered the truth that the greatest expression of Jesus’ faithfulness is found in the resurrection. Jesus said He would rise from the grave and He was faithful to do just that. More than just being seen, Jesus’ first appearance occurred to the most unlikely of persons – Mary Magdalene. A person with a rebellious past (previously having been possessed by demons), a woman – having no standing in the eyes of society (the testimony of a women was scorned by civil authorities), and completely outside of the procedure for spiritual confirmation – the religious leaders would be thought to be the first to see Jesus. However, Jesus expresses His faithfulness in ways that reveal HIS priorities. Today, we will continue to see Jesus’ faithfulness as He appears to His disciples.
