God’s Use of GF’s Mission Giving

Friday, August 15, 2014 by Pat Dirrim Leave a Comment

As part of the mission of our church, Grace Fellowship regularly supports missionaries, mission agencies, and other churches.  As many of you may know, my family was a gracious recipient of this for many years as we lived and served in Guatemala.  We thank the Lord for that!

Seminary Students in Medellin

However, just this past week, we received an email from one of our brothers in Christ in Medellin, Colombia about the impact of our support of them.  Sergio Ruiz is one of the pastors at Iglesia Bautista Reformada la Gracia de Dios (Reformed Baptist Church of the Grace of God) where Grace Fellowship worked in the fall of 2013.  He is also the one who put us in contact with our new friends and brothers in Christ in Cali, Javier Gil and his associates.

Our Director of Missions, Kevin Maner, received an email letting us know how the $600.00 that we had given them was being put to use.  Pastor Sergio’s church partners with others in running a reformed seminary called Seminario Reformado Latinoamerican (Reformed Seminary of Latin America).  It is located high in the mountains that overlook the city and it’s there that young men from throughout Colombia and from all over Latin America receive seminary level training.  From there, they return to their hometowns and begin to preach the Gospel and start and lead churches with God and His sovereignty as the focal point.

One of their students this year, a young man named Anderson Restrepo, was going to have to drop out to return home as he simply didn’t have the funds to complete his studies.  While $600.00 might not seem like much in regards to tuition here in the States, it is exactly what Anderson needed to stay in school.

Pastor Sergio’s said this in an email to Kevin, “Thank you dear brother, what a blessing this support was.  Just yesterday I was talking to a student who told me he was thinking of dropping out to support his family. Greetings to the elders of Grace Fellowship.  With love in Christ, Sergio.”

Who knows how our good and faithful God may use the education that Anderson will receive to help spread His fame in the coming years and decades in Colombia?  Thank you all for your faithful support of our good and great God through the wise stewardship of your resources.  May God’s fame be spread because of Anderson’s continued seminary education.
