Our last day of ministry in Colombia is here and we headed back to Yumbo. Because of the World Cup game, the schools are closed so we went to the park in the town center. Hundreds of people were there and the atmosphere was festive. We set up face painting and balloons to draw a crowd and had scores of children AND adults come to get the Colombian flag painted on their faces. We presented one of the dramas and then Marty did a gospel presentation. After this, we continued with face painting and balloons while several of our group engaged in one-on-one conversations. The conversations were so numerous that we chose to forgo the other skits and the sketch board presentation. We also gave out a huge number of tracts and connected people with pastor Cesar.
After lunch we returned to our hotel just in time to watch Colombia lose a heartbreaker against heavily favored Brazil. Despite the loss, the people are still out celebrating the success of their team.
We will say goodbye to our hosts tonight over dinner at a nice restaurant then the team will hit the sack early in order to wake up at Oh-Dark-Thirty to catch the flight home.
We are grateful to all of you who supported us on this trip. This has been extremely effective and it is the beginning of a long-term relationship. The plan has been confirmed that we will go into high schools and universities next year, Lord willing.
