Today we examine the conclusion of Jesus’ great prayer recorded in John 17. In its opening focus (John 17:1-5), Jesus prayed that His Father would glorify Him so that He could glorify His Father, having accomplished the work the Father had given Him to do. In the middle section (John 17:6-19), Jesus shifted the focus of His prayer to His disciples: the ones the Father had given to Him. He prayed that the Father would keep them in His name and protect them from the evil one. There is one more shift. In our verses today (John 17:20-26), Jesus extends His prayer to an unsuspecting audience. Could it be He prayed for you?
