Today we begin to immerse ourselves in the Gospel according to John. Does it seem odd that we have Matthew, Mark and even a book written by a non-Jew (Luke) outlining the life of Jesus and yet John wrote another book on the life of Jesus? Have you noticed that John doesn’t mention the birth of Jesus? Did you notice the unusual amount of “I Am” statements in John?
Surely you have noticed the amount of ink that John gives to impressions that people have about Jesus? Each of these unique characteristics of the book of John points us to the unique reason for which the book of John was written: …these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name (John 20:31).
So if you want to have life, a deep and meaningful life, you have come to the right source! We are glad you are here.
