Merry Christmas from Grace Fellowship

Monday, December 24, 2012 by Dan Miller Leave a Comment

Maybe your like me and have noticed that the whole world seems on edge. Over the last few weeks it seems like the news has pulsated with people who are ticked off at everything. We hear threats of chemical weapons and nuclear bombs. Doesn’t it seem like we are we one button-push away from annihilation lately?

Let’s remember that the world that Jesus was born into was also on edge. The Roman boot was on the neck of the Israelite people. It seemed like even the smallest of freedoms were being extinguished. Herod’s evil rampage took the lives of hundreds if not thousands of babies. The grief of an innocent baby murdered must have overwhelmed countless parents and relatives. Jesus Himself was whisked away to Egypt to avoid being a statistic. Think about it, Jesus was on the run before He could even talk.

It’s hard to imagine it was in this moment that the Christ was born. But, then again, wouldn’t this be the perfect time for a Savior? The Bible calls this moment, “In the fullness of time.” In other words, the moment was exactly right for Jesus to be born because the world was desperate for hope. Desperate for truth. Desperate for life … life everlasting.

May we all remember that when the world was on edge, Jesus was right on time. I can’t think of a more needy time for Jesus to rule in our hearts than now, can you? Therefore, let’s tell others this Christmas of the baby who would grow up to be a King, the Savior of the world.

Merry Christmas
