We wanted to give you a quick update on the results of our meeting with the Forsyth County Water Department.
We met with the Director of the Department, Mr. Tim Perkins. The purpose of the meeting was to determine all available options for water, and to determine the best way to move forward.
There are several options available. One involves bringing a line from around CiCi’s. Another option is to bring water from around Old Atlanta (but on the same side of the road as the church property). Both of these options will work and the county will allow either of them, which is great news. However, we are still working on a third alternative which would be even more affordable.
On the church property, and all along Ronald Reagan, there is currently a 36 inch water line that traditionally has only been used by the county to transport water from the water plant to water towers. The county has not allowed people or businesses to “tap” into the main lines. However, at our meeting, we requested to be able to use that main line if at all possible. The Director was receptive to the idea, but needs to see if there are some engineering limitations (for example, does the pipe have adequate water pressure 24/7 or just at certain times). He will let us know within a week or so. He also asked if we would be willing to bring a 12 inch line off of that main line (the code requires us to use at least an eight inch line for hydrants), and allow other adjacent property owners to tap into that when their land is developed. We told them, “If we can tap the main line, we will absolutely allow others to use it in the future”. That would be a huge blessing to the church!
Also, if you recall, we asked all of us to pray that God would allow us to come up with an affordable solution that is helpful to the church, helpful to the county and our neighbors. This would do all of those things!
Please pray that we will honor the Lord in all of these meetings, and that God’s hand will move through this situation in a way that will bring Him the most glory. Also pray that regardless of the situation or the outcome, we will praise and thank Him in all circumstances.
As always, please feel free to contact us or to ask any questions that you may have.
