Where Did the Races Come From?

Sunday, July 8, 2012 by Larry Farlow Leave a Comment

This morning during Grace Talk we dealt with a question about how all the races we see today came about if we’re all descendants of the same six people (Noah’s sons and their wives) as Genesis teaches.

When addressing the question I mentioned that my answer was based on an article by Ken Ham of Answers in Genesis. As promised, here’s a link to the full article:

Are There Really Different Races?

In addition, here’s a bit more technical article from AiG on the same topic for those who are interested:

Genetics and Biblical Demographic Events

I found yet another interesting article at NPR claiming that no matter what “race” your family is now, it’s very likely that thousands of years ago your ancestors had a different skin color. They don’t approach the topic from a biblical perspective but the conclusion they come to is consistent with what the Bible teaches:

Your Family May Once Have Been a Different Color.

Lastly, here’s a link to the story about Dean Durrant and Allison Spooner in the UK who have two sets of twins, one of whom is black and the other white, illustrating that if the genetic information is present in the parents, any shade of skin from light to dark is possible:

Twincredibles

I find it interesting that many of those who scoff at the idea that Genesis is true and that all types of people could come from just three couples many thousands of years ago are often the same people who ask us to believe that life came from non-life and single celled organisms randomly generated reams of additional genetic information to become fish and frogs and human beings.

Which is a more believable story?
