Today was another beautiful day in San Mateo. As we arrived at the church we saw a large group of children coming down the road toward us and quickly realized it was a parade. We all began to line the street to greet the children, and the leader of the parade asked us to join them, so we did! We walked through the streets of San Mateo laughing and having a wonderful time with the children. It was a fun experience and one that we will not forget!
After the parade, our team split up into two groups to go build and install stoves. We were able to put four stoves in four different homes today. Again, it was an amazing experience and one that left many of us humbled and grateful to God for allowing us to help these people. One of the homes had never had a stove and she always walked to her sister’s home to cook food for her family. She was weeping and so very grateful. The gospel was shared and we pray that these families will trust Jesus.
We came back to help feed the children their lunch and then we had the VBS. Today was a day to be flexible as we had to change the location of some of our activities, but everyone pitched in and we worked it out. The kids were much more playful and talkative today and it was a joy spending another afternoon with them. Today we talked about God being bigger than other gods and the kids were listening intently.
Pray for us tomorrow as we are hoping to install and build four more stoves and the VBS lesson tomorrow is about God winning over death and Satan. We will be talking with the children about sin and what Jesus has done for us. Pray that they will understand that we can’t fix our sin, but Jesus can.
Thanks again for your prayers and support.
