We are excited about beginning a series in the book of John that will be our focus until the start of summer. Today, we will introduce you to the book of John and why it was written. Does it seem odd that we have Matthew, and Mark, and even a book written by a non-Jew (Luke) outlining the life of Jesus and yet John wrote another book on the life of Jesus. Why? Maybe you have noticed that John doesn’t mention the birth of Jesus? Or, have ever considered the unusual concentration of “I Am” statements John cites? Surely you ever noticed the unusual amount of ink that John gives to the impressions that people have about Jesus? Each of these characteristics of the book of John points us to the unique reason for which the book of John was written and today we will explorewhy. By the way, don’t forget that you will be discussing and applying this information together in order to get the most out of our time together today.
