Why Advent Matters

Thursday, December 1, 2011 by Matthew Weeks Leave a Comment

This past Sunday we began our Advent season. Yet in the craziness of the season one can easily wonder, “What’s the point?”, “Is it just another word for Christmas?”, “Isn’t it just old church tradition?”, or even “I just thought that was something for our kids” (referring to our own church tradition). However, Advent is so much more. It is a reminder that waiting is spiritual.

Sojourn Community Church has posted a blog written by one of their members about the importance of Advent. Several of the songs we sing on Sunday come from this church. Check out this post to know more about the importance of Advent and why we value it here at Grace Fellowship.

The article is written by Timothy Paul Jones who is one of the professors at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY.

Celebrating the Waiting

I hope this article helps you worship in your waiting.
