Maybe the next thing out of his mouth will be “since Jesus is dead (or “kinda dead”), you’re free to worship someone or something else”. I can tell Pat is a bit underwhelmed by a vow or commitment when the going gets tough. Something tells me that commitments aren’t just for the smooth and easy times. Seems odd that someone who has experienced God’s grace and mercy cannot recognize its value in this world in another application.
