In this week’s message we will consider the greatness of God. The “greatness” of God is a broad concept. Are we saying God is everywhere? How about that God is powerful or mighty? While we could use all sorts of terms to describe the greatness of God there is a particular notion that runs through all of these expressions that we will consider in this week’s teaching. The idea is that of God being in control. This idea of control doesn’t mean that God can do anything, but that God does anything He wants to do that is in line with His character. In other words, there is no force or creature that can hinder or change God’s ability to control anything in all creation. If there is something that can change or hinder God’s ability to control an outcome then God would cease to be God.
For the believer the implications of this truth are staggering: God is in (total) control of anything I will face in life. Therefore, I can face anything. In today’s teaching we will consider particular examples of this truth and marvel at the greatness of our God. The “Spectrum” series is about exploring some of those characteristics of God with a view to see Him more clearly and then worship Him more passionately. MP3 download.
