The famous novel, A Tale of Two Cities begins: “It was the best of times it was the worst of times.” Naomi had lived that sentiment. Throughout the book of Ruth, Naomi had experienced terrible tragedies and yet it was through those tragedies that she met Ruth. It was through meeting Ruth that she was reminded of her kinsman-redeemer. And, it was through Boaz that Ruth got married and gave birth to a child who would be the joy of her life. So, what seemed to be a life filled with the worst of times was transformed to be the best of times. Today, we will be wrapping up our study of Ruth by considering how the providence of God is seen working to not only bless them, but all of Israel and, eventually, us as well.
