Fredrick Buchner, in his book, Wishful Thinking, points out the oddity of God’s command given to the people of Israel while in the wilderness. Buchner writes, “To be commanded to love God at all, let alone in the wilderness, is like being commanded to be well when we are sick, to sing for joy when we are dying of thirst, to run when our legs are broken. But this is the first and greatest commandment nonetheless. Even in the wilderness – especially in the wilderness – you should love Him. “ Naomi has not done this. In fact, Naomi questioned the very nature of God’s goodness. How God responds to Naomi will tell us much about His character. Will God make her life even more miserable? No. God has a greater plan that will spread His fame and bring Naomi profound joy. MP3 download.
