In part 1, we considered how Naomi saw God not as loving but as a cosmic force bent on dishing-out heartache. In other words, Naomi firmly believed that God was great (in control of every detail of life), but she no longer viewed God as good because of all the tragedy that she had face in life. Since God was controller of everything then the pain in Naomi’s life was dictated and being directed by God. While Naomi was right that God is the sovereign that does not mean He is not good, even when His sovereign kingship means Naomi will suffer deep loneliness and heartache. This overemphasis of God’s greatness at the expense of His goodness forged in the furnace of over a decade has changed Naomi from a pleasant woman into a bitter old widow.
However, just when it seems all hope is lost, there arrives a man by the name of Boaz. In today’s teaching you will see a great and good God who is providentially moving through the events of Naomi’s life. Will all the pain and heartache that Naomi has gone through really have purpose and meaning? To what length will God go to achieve His purpose in revealing His glory to mankind? It is our hope that your trust in God will be strengthened as you realize that God is providentially moving through the events of your life as well. MP3 download.
