The word “diagnostic” comes from the field of medicine and of a doctor making a “diagnosis” regarding the condition of a patient. The word has expanded in its use to relate to anything that has an intended function and is not working at peak performance. Whether it is a student in school or the strength of a piece of steel or an engine in a car, the idea of determining the reason for the poor performance involves conducting a diagnostic test.
Today, we are taking the sixth in a set of seven diagnostic tests in order to evaluate critical areas of development in our spiritual health. In this series, we see each of these seven areas as gauges that every Christian needs to monitor. Each of these gauges reveals the activity of our heart in our devotion to Jesus. We view each of these gauges not so much as an obligation to obey but an invitation to enjoy our Lord even more. MP3 download.
