Q1 (2:33). This question pertains to the topic of Rebirth (or Regeneration) and Salvation. I have heard some Grace teachers say that Rebirth and Salvation are synonymous and therefore you are saved when you are reborn. Other teachers speak of an “ordo salutis” or an order of salvation where rebirth is an act of God that must occur before you can even understand the Gospel for salvation. Can you please explain the basis of these two different doctrines and then what Grace Fellowship’s official position is?
Q2 (31:57). Gen 1:11-13 The third day of creation “…the land was filled with seed-bearing plants and trees…” Gen 1:26-28 The sixth day of creation “…God created people…and God said “Look I have given you the seed-bearing plants …and the fruit trees for your food…” Then in Gen 2:7-8 “And the LORD God formed a man’s body from the dust of the ground…Then the LORD God planted a garden in Eden….” The order & timing is confusing, can you explain? Thanks!
Q3 (40:25). In a previous sermon, Pastor Dan cited I Chronicles 7:14 and gave reasons for not applying this verse to America today (good stuff). This got me thinking about how God may hold Israel accountable in ways that he will not hold America accountable because we are not His chosen people. So when people say that God is judging America for a particular calamity (like hurricane Katrina, a stock market crash, etc.) and cite an O.T. verse are they wrong for doing this? How can I know when an O.T. judgment only applies to Israel or could apply to America or any nation for that matter?
Q4 (saved for next graceTALK). Periodically when reading in the New Testament, I come across a passage in which the writer cites an Old Testament passage that seems to have no connection whatsoever to what the writer is talking about. For example, in the following passages, the author specifically says that an O.T. event occurred to fulfill or complete a N.T. action. However, it seems like the writer is just pulling a passage out of the air. What am I missing? Three examples of this happening are found in Matthew 2:15, Acts 2:15-21 (specifically v.19-21 since that did not happen yet Peter said it was happening then), and Ephesians 4:8.
