I LOVED this movie. It did not bash the church (for all its falts and sins God chose his church to spead the gospel). It focuses on people’s deep desire to love and be loved. We need to learn to love people, period. Love and kindness say more about the gospel than anything else. You will be amazed how non-believers deeply desire to know about truth through relationships not finger pointing and scripture salvos.

Go see this movie before it is talken away. Only 9 theaters in the country have this playing and 1 is right in Duluth at Regal Medlock Crossing.

Well, technological genius that I am, I tried to leave a comment and it didn’t like my email address, so I’ll try this again.

Chuck and I saw this movie last weekend with friends of ours from Perimeter. We wouldn’t have even known about it if it weren’t for them inviting us.

This was a good movie and well worth seeing. Like Jay said, it didn’t bash the church, but it certainly was convicting. It was done with a lot of humor, mixed in between some pretty important lessons for the church. It focused on how insulated and out of touch the majority of the church is with the culture and that non-believers know the church is out of touch. It showed how much the secular culture knows about the Christian culture but not vice versa. It spoke of reaching out to the poor and marginalized (focusing on the homeless and homosexual community) and loving them by “preaching the gospel and when necessary to use words”. I came away with lots of questions on application. Do I steep myself in secular culture, taking in lots of TV, literature and information so I can better interact with non-believing co-workers, neighbors, etc? Do I attempt to build relationships with homosexuals and homeless people? I thought about Jesus and how He spent three years building relationships with his disciples and how He left us the great commission to go out into all the world and “as you are going” spread the gospel. This takes time, intentional effort and may not be comfortable. I need to show others that God cares for them by the way I care for them. This movie really changed my perspective on what it means to share the gospel. I encourage the church (universal) to see this movie – it won’t be around long, so take advantage of it while you still can.
