Is Dan Brown (The Da Vinci Code and The Lost Symbol) a Liar?

Wednesday, September 30, 2009 by Dan Miller 1 Comment

While Dan Brown likes to fancy himself a fictional writer rooted in factual history, the Telegraph.co.uk has documented 50 factual errors in his books. This is more than one writer getting sloppy, it would seem to be an aggressive attempt at self-promotion at the expense telling the truth:

“FACT. All rituals, science, artwork, and monuments in this novel are real.” [The Lost Symbol]

“All descriptions of artwork, architecture, documents, and secret rituals in this novel are accurate.”
[The Da Vinci Code]

Is Dan Brown a liar? You be the judge.

Yes he is a liar…he is also a sub standard writer. I recently had to read the book for my literature class…yes they are forcing college students to read this book. Anyway, I had to force my way through it and honestly I couldn’t finish. Yes I am a Christian and I was offended by the subject matter initially, but I thought this would be a book I would feel guilty for liking. I had heard all the hype and it was a best seller, so it must be good right? WRONG. It is full of cheesy cliche lines and it is boring. The names of the characters are ridiculous too. The characters were flat and predictable. I was very unimpressed. I am convinced that the only reason it wound up on the best seller list is the subject matter. This society looks for anything to undermine the Truth.
