“Stop playing favorites,” can be heard in playgrounds, when the teams are being picked for a game of kickball. “Teachers pet” can be heard from classrooms across our Country. “He’s such a suck-up; that’s why he got the promotion,” can be heard in the hallways of businesses. No one likes it (except the person who benefits), but it happens. Certain people are treated one way while others are treated another way. We call it favoritism, and when it happens, you know it and can’t do much about it. It is ingrained in our society and is a reality of life. Does this “reality of life” also apply to the Church? Do people play favorites in church to the exclusion and hurt of others? You bet. What can we do about it? That’s what we will explore today as we discuss James 2:1-7. MP3 download.
