In mentioning Vacation Bible School in last weeks teaching, I inspired ‘O Ryan to send me the following story regarding the sometimes rabid parental approach to this summer program.

Pastor Dan was part of the core group that started Grace Fellowship in 2003. Pastor Dan is our primary teaching pastor, leads the staff, and oversees the vision and strategy for our disciplemaking philosophy of ministry. Dan married Vicki in 1993. Together, they enjoy their seven children – Benjamin (married to Courtney), David, Alexa, Zachary (married to Ginna), Nathan, Ana, and Autumn, along with one grandchild - Lucy.

    Perhaps we should be careful about how we passively define extreme behavior.

    There are well meaning people who think VBS is valuable.

    VBS definitely has value for many and that can be a good thing.

    But VBS every week for the entire summer just to ditch the kids? 😉

    We pulled Josh out of a bad parks and rec summer camp and his grandma put him in a different VBS each week until the last week of summer. It was great and he learned a lot.
