    Just watched the “Son of God” and “Faith and Science” clips … wow, emotions are running high on the atheism side.

    I hope Ray and Kirk maintain their coolness. They seem to be exercising the “steam roller” technique well.

    I plan to set the VCR — yes, I still use a VCR.

    Nightline showed the 90-minute debate in 15 minutes on the air. While there were some painful moments, I was pleased with some of what I saw. A more complete version of the whole debate is on ABC Video. I have yet to watch the whole thing in order to comment on it.

    Ray and Kirk had some good points, and some over the top arguments. Too much “just read the bible for yourself” comments. Honestly it seemed like they hadn’t even prepared to re-respond to many of the atheists responses. Knighttime rating: 2.5 stars, none twinkling.

    I agree Tyler, it was as if they had never even thought about some of these issues. Kirk Cameron gets a lot of media attention because of his acting on Growing Pains. Both Kirk and Ray have done great things in teaching people how to give the gospel. However, I think it’s pretty clear that they were chosen because people see Kirk Cameron on tv, and Dateline gets a ratings boost. There were a countless number of people to better represent Christianity in a debate like this. For me it became very difficult to watch at the end of this episode of Dateline where they begin to talk about micro/macro evolution and transitional forms. Unfortunately it seems that neither Kirk or Ray have a real understanding of what evolution actually claims. I wish that rather than agreeing to do this debate, they would have referred Dateline to someone more versed in science, specifically evolution.

    Actually I believe Ray and Kirk requested the debate aftering seeing the other group featured on NightLine months earlier. (Yikes.)

    Steve Camp gives an accurate review. I tend to agree with his assessment except for the suggestion that Way of the Master still needs to stop buying infommercial time on TBN.

    TBN viewers need to hear the Gospel just as much as anyone else. 🙂

    I finally got around to reading Camp’s review. In what ways do you think his statements are accurate? I found his words abrasive and off-topic. It seems he condemns the whole venture simply because Ray and Kirk didn’t utilize presuppositional apologetics.

    Yeah, I don’t agree with the whole thing but keep their claim in mind. I guess I manily agree with Camp’s 2nd and 3rd points.

    2. to add insult to injury, neither Kirk nor Ray proved “100% scientifically the existence of God” by using science; they never presented one shred of scientific evidence to support their dogmatic claim.

    3. I didn’t think it was possible for a Christian to lose a debate on “the existence of God” to two atheists—but that is exactly what happened.

    BTW, these two atheists were not intellectual elites or gifted apologists for their views. … Any prepared Christian apologist should have swept the floor with them… (in a loving Christian way of course calling them to repentance.)

    I also agree with this:

    …listen carefully to what people are actually asking you and saying to you (1 Peter 3:15);

    That clip with the woman asking about cancer is very frustrating to me. I knew where Ray was gonna take it but it sounded like he was changing the subject and/or skirting the issue. He should have realized no one was getting it and rephrased the 3rd or 4th time they said, “That’s not what I’m asking.”
