Truth vs. Postmodernism on MP3

Thursday, February 8, 2007 by Hugh Williams Leave a Comment

I’m a big fan of “redeeming the drive” with lectures and sermons on MP3. The topic I’ve focused on this week — the battle between truth and postmodernism — has no shortage of free audio available for download. Here are some items I can recommend on this topic:

Greg Koukl (Stand to Reason)

Greg Koukl

Greg Koukl is uniquely approachable and sophisticated at the same time. I must warn you, though: his podcast is like an apologetics “gateway drug” that leads to the really hard stuff. šŸ˜‰ All kidding aside, I highly recommend this material.

(Note: Grace Fellowship will be hosting a Stand to Reason seminar with Greg Koukl in April.)

Stand to Reason podcast (November 14, 2004): Greg Koukl and James Emery White on Serious Times

Rumor has it that if you look up erudite in the dictionary, you’ll see Don Carson’s picture. This material on postmodernism and how it relates to truth and scripture is the best I’ve found. It’s not casual listening, though: you’ll have to put on your thinking cap to really follow what’s offered here.

Ravi Zacharias is something of a celebrity in the Christian apologetics arena. I have no doubt I could find much, much more than this in the immense body of work he has assembled over the years, but here are two of his podcasts that stand out in my memory:

Cultural Relativism and the Emasculation of Truth (part 1 of 2)

Dr. Guinness has too many lectures on the subject to list here, and I haven’t listened to all of them, but I encourage you to sample some of his lectures from the Veritas Forum.

2006 Desiring God National Conference

John Piper
John Piper

The 2006 Desiring God National Conference was subtitled “The Supremacy of Christ in a Postmodern World.” David Wells, author of Above All Earthly Pow’rs: Christ in a Postmodern World (the book that inspired the theme of the conference), is one of the conference speakers.

I haven’t listened to these lectures yet, so I can only recommend them because I know the speakers to be first-rate — to say nothing of my respect for John Piper and Desiring God Ministries.

European Leadership Forum

Here again, I haven’t listened to all of them, but I have listened to several and I generally like the European Leadership Forum material. It’s worth mentioning that the ELF caters to a sophisticated audience; one might even call it “academic.”
