This week in the Christian Essentials class, we’ll review the chapters entitled “What does it mean to become a Christian?” and “What are justification and adoption?” This is where things get personal as the atoning work of Christ intersects with with us in time.

As a supplement to the chapters, I commend to you this message called God’s Great Mercy and Our New Birth by John Piper. In it he makes the case (in his inimitably passionate way) for the fact that rebirth (regeneration) is an act of God that necessarily precedes our response of faith.

Dr. Piper also reminds us of how this ought to cause us to respond in worship to our great God.
