As I mentioned in class this pass week, I’ve been reading John Murray’s Redemption Accomplished and Applied in preparation for the lessons on the atonement, election, and conversion. I’m not finished yet, but as I’ve read, I can see why this is considered a classic on the subject. I found it particularly interesting when after I read the first section of the book (on redemption accomplished) then went and read Grudem’s chapter on the atonement and found most the chapter patterned after Murray’s work.
One warning, though. You may need to have a dictionary handy as you read. It is the first book that I’ve read that was written in the twentieth century that seems to need an ‘updated in modern English’ version. 🙂
