I thank God for my parents

Wednesday, July 5, 2006 by Kevin Hosner 1 Comment

This past week, my parents came and visited with our family for about 5 days. They currently live in Lakeland Florida, having resided in Pensacola for most of my life.

As we all get older and reflect on the blessings of life, I am humbled and thankful for the parents that God gave me.

My Dad, Joe, is the most disciplined and focused person I have ever known. As a boy, I thought he was strict (He was). Yet now as a parent I am thankful for the “tough yet fair” model he gave me. And it is also incredible to see the mellowing transformation that takes place between being a “Dad” and a “Paw-Paw”. Is this the same man?

My mother is a peach. Really. Her name is Peaches. And it fits. She has always made me smile. I do not remember my mother ever being mean-hearted to anyone. Ever. She is always a friend to many and to any. At very difficult times in oiur lives, my mother continually sacrificed her own needs to make sure everyone else was taken care of.

They are wonderful parents for many reasons. But mostly for the joyous example of two believers who have been joined in marriage for almost 45 years. Through good and bad, their example of trusting the Lord and faithfully serving Him has blessed me beyond my ability to express.

To God be the glory for each and both of them. I pray that by God’s grace, Angela and I, and Caleb anmd Joshua can follow their example.

Thanks MeMe and PawPaw for a great visit! We love you!
