I get a bit of a Scrooge rap around my house for quickly growing tired of 24-hour Christmas music from Thanksgiving through Christmas. The tired old songs that are spiritually void totally grate on my nerves. Songs like Silver Bells, Here Come Santa Clause, and the all-time worst: Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree.
I actually like the classics that have great spiritual truth, but they don’t seem to get the air-play that “Feliz Navidad” does.
With that said, there have been a few Christmas albums that I really like. My very favorite is Light of the World by The Martins. It contains some new Christ-centered songs and some fresh renditions of the classics. Another good one is Good News by Kathy Mattea.
Gloria is a new compilation this year that I’ve enjoyed.
Donna picked up All I Really Want for Christmas by Steven Curtis Chapman. We’ve enjoyed this one, too.
So, my question to you is what is your favorite contemporary, Christ-centered Christmas album?
Jeffrey Stables says
*sigh* I consider any Christmas music Christ-centered, but I guess I’m an idealist… π Well, at least, it makes me think about Christ, whether it ws meant to or not, just by mentioning Christmas.
My favorite Christmas albums are by The Trans-Siberian Orchestra.
