Those of you close to me know I am managing the biggest project of my career. My team is upgrading over 500 laptops with XP and refreshing everyone’s hardware at the same time. I am happy to say my pilot laptop order arrived today. The pilot starts tomorrow. The order was a day late, but we are on schedule still.
Trying to manage all the details going into this effort makes me thankful that God is almighty and all knowing. I am certainly not those things. Nothing has ever occurred to Him. He learns nothing. He is able to do all things. He is able to take bad and work for good. I pray that my trust in Him during this time not waver, but actually grow to His glory.

Yikes Kevin! Over 500 laptops?
Being a 20+ yr IT specialist that deals with this stuff every day at medical offices around the country…I feel your pain my brother! Just make sure you turn off or set that XP-SP2 firewall just right or let the fun begin! I am sure you knew that a long time ago!!
You could avoid all this by formatting them and loading Windows 98SE right? 😉 Kidding….
Seriously….Every time I walk into a client site I pray and ask for the Lord to give me the wisdom to make the right decisions; a clear memory of how to solve problems; and a calmness and patience to deal with any customer that might be hard to deal with. That always works for me and sets the tone for everything after that.
I hope this goes well for you, and if anything does not go as planned, you will have an opportunity to shine the light to those you are working with.
One more thing. If those laptops are not Dell Latitudes, I will pray a little extra for you! I am a little biased for Dell. Could you tell?

C.A. – these are T43 thinkpads which are much better then the IBMs of the late 90s. BTW – the laptops didn’t get shipped from the warehouse to the depot as planned. See the next blog…
