A friend just sent me this link and I had to suspend the conversation on Kenneth Hagin to post it. Oprah is making a point that we covered as one of the signs of false teaching in our Unmasking the Counterfeits series. Oprah begins a discussion on evil and soon she is unveiling her beliefs of how a person can know God. Oprah has bought into a lie and is a conduit for false teaching to millions of people. Can you pick out the specific error(s) related to our teaching she is making?

Even though the audience never comes back with a decent rebutal*, it’s great to see her finally expose where she stands.
*Oprah says “even someone who lives like Jesus would have wanted them to live … even someone who lived for the same purpose of Jesus…” sorry but us earning or working towards our salvation has nothing to do with “the purpose” of Jesus. It’s about dying to our sinful selves and depending completely on Him for our salvation. The way we live is only in response to that.
How can you define ANYTHING as wrong or sinful if ANYTHING you believe is true for you. It’s all one big contradiction. Greg Koukl nailed Deepak Chopra on this. Why is it bad for me to claim to be right but it’s OK for you to say that I’m wrong to do so and you claim that you’re right to point that out?
Would anyone accept medical care based on reasoning so devoid of logic?
Why are so many Americans so willing to accept what sounds good without thinking through the implications of the garbage they’re ingesting? Gee how can this anti-freeze be bad for you? It tastes like fruit punch!
Don’t you love Oprah’s appeal to authority? There just CAN’T be just one way to God – THERE JUST CAN’T!
Oh, OK then. Of course then she subtly switches the argument to mean that there are millions of ways to be *Human*.
WOW. I heard a quote on the radio the other day, forgive me if I cannot currently remember who to give credit to on this one, which said, “As Christians we have to explain why there is hurt and sorrow in life. The atheists have to explain everything else.” I know this is not exactly what Ms. Winfrey was going for, but her point was headed in that direction.
“If you are somewhere on the planet and never hear the name of Jesus . . . you can not get to heaven, you think? (asking Christian Audience member)”
The unfortunate answer to the question,” What about the poor innocent native?” is best shown in Romans 3.9-18 (KJV)
9 What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin;
10 as it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
11 there is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.
12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. Ps. 14.1-3 ; 53.1-3
13 Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; Ps. 5.9 the poison of asps is under their lips: Ps. 140.3

18 there is no fear of God before their eyes.
They are not innocent. We (all of us) do not seek God. We cannot please God or live righteously apart from God. God chose to reveal Himself to us. God chose to redeem us. To say that God would not have only one way is to say that God is a liar or worse to say that Christ sacrifice was not worthy or complete.
Christ said,” I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14.6 KJV)
The apostle John writes about John The Baptist saying, “The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world!” (John 1.29 kjv)
Christ said, “It is finished” (John 19.30 KJV)
There is only one way. The sacrifice was worthy. God is in control and we should feel amazed that He considered us something worth redeeming. There is nothing in us that is worth His redemption and this should drive us toward missions, preaching, teaching and every other way to make Him more famous. It is a sorrowful though that millions upon millions will not know Him as Lord and Savior. It is not however evidence against Him being the one and only God.
The mistakes that she makes are twofold. First, she denies that those on the path to “light” are in fact sinners. Since they are not on the path to “darkness” they are OK. According to her, those not on the path of “darkness” are healthy and have no sin issues to deal with. (Kind of sounds like Star Wars talk)Second, she patently rejects the exclusive truth claims that Jesus makes as to His authority and how man can come to know Him. There are millions of ways to God or light or whatever. As long as our heart has love, we are good to go. It is sad that this woman has such massive influence and is dispensing such man-centered God-dishonring bunk.
Both Opera and the audience member at the mic have a problem with their view of man’s spiritual condition (reminds me of a sermon somewhere…). They believe that man has the ability to choose between right and wrong on his own. Therefore, they deny our depravity and the need for a Savior from sin. In Opera’s view, as she said herself,
Christ didn’t need to save us from sin. He simply needed to teach us all to choose right from wrong. And, if we all have that capacity, then ANY religion that teaches right form wrong is good and will lead to salvation. (Don’t even get me started on how they determine right and wrong.) They are both wrong in their ultimate theology because they get man’s spiritual condition wrong.
