In part I of this blog string, I introduced you to the beliefs of Robert Schuller (BTW see an example of his view of the Holy Spirit). In our Sunday, April 10 teaching we examined two key ingredients of any false teaching – who we are spiritually and how we are made right (justified) with God. See April 11 blog. Dr. Schuller indicates that it is a mistake to preach on the concept that we are sinners and not inherently good. How does this thinking work out in practical ways? Well, a clear example is found when Dr. Schuller speaks to a group of Unity ministers (a mind-science cult) in training.
“Schuller was asked, ‘Dr. Schuller, we hear a lot of talk these days about the New Age, the Age of Aquarius, the type of New Age thinking that we are involved in with Holistic healing and various other things that are part of what is called the New Age. Will you describe the role of what you might consider the New Age minister in the ’80s and beyond?’” “Schuller replied,
‘Well, I think it depends upon where you’re working. I believe that the responsibility in this Age is to ‘positivize’ religion. Now this probably doesn’t have much bearing to you people, being Unity people, you’re positive. But I talk a great deal to groups that are not positive… even to what we would call Fundamentalists who deal constantly with words like sin, salvation, repentance, guilt, that sort of thing.'” “So when I’m dealing with these people… what we have to do is positivize the words that have classically only had a negative interpretation.”
The above quote was taken from an address at Unity Village, Unity teaching tape.
How can anyone truly “positivize” anyone without a basis for thinking in the first place? Without truth as our foundation words like “positivize” or “religion” are up-for-grabs! Everyone becomes their own little god in defining what words mean. Robert Schuller could not be more non-positive to the people who soak in his meandering. At his core Dr. Schuller is, at best, pushing “hateful” religion! Dr. Schuller is peddling a message that is opposed to the Biblical truth that God has given us. The only thing the “gospel” of Dr. Schuller can do for people is debilitate and, ultimately, damn them to a Christ-less eternity.
Pray for repentance to come from God for Dr. Schuller and warn people (even link this blog) to not entertain his teaching because death and destruction are in his wake. Also, I thank God for opening my eyes to the truth when I was 19. If it were not for His grace in sending His Spirit, I would be still lost in my sin. Thank you Jesus!

This is intriguing:
Radio Host Fired For Wondering If Pope Went To Heaven
I haven’t found anything that gives a complete account of what the guy said, but the account in the brief article linked above doesn’t seem “out of bounds.”

Yea, how come Christians can stomp on the First Ammendment? Wow, this is a great example of what Christ said about choosing between serving God or money (Matt. 6:24). I must say that I was concerned about how the teaching on April 10 concerning the false teaching of the Roman Catholic Church would be received. I was not concerned that people would not like me (I learned long ago that truth divides people), but I was concerned that people would not see our passion to explain truth and our care for those living in error. We just don’t want to point out who is wrong, but that they can be right in Jesus! I don’t need to be hurtful when we speak on “tough” issues, I just have to be faithful in expressing what the Bible says with a cooresponding hope that is freely offered. Maybe the way the pastor explained it was rough or with little room for dialogue?

Yeah, I would love to know exactly what he said. I’d also like to know if this was just an excuse to fire the guy.
The article makes it sound like the guy just took a call and engaged the question… and for that he got fired?
Either A) the station management was really touchy for some reason, B) the station management was looking for a reason to sack him, or C) there’s more to the story.
