The resurrection of Christ is the historical highpoint for Christians. It was the ultimate affirmation that He was the Son of God and had power over death. As Paul says in I Cor. 15: 14 “…if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is vain, your faith also is vain.”
Given the pivotal nature of this event, we should expect skeptics to attempt to undermine its historicity. If it can be relegated to just another religious myth that brings comfort to people who are willing to put their hope in make-believe, then it loses its power to speak to the world.
There are some excellent books out there to help us defend the historicity of the resurrection, but William Lane Craig sums up eight of the best arguments to support it in this scholarly, yet mostly accessible article.
